Reading Books

Posted by GBGames on October 5th, 2005

Early in 2005, I decided to read books a lot more often. Previously I would read whenever I was really interested in a book, like Terry Brooks’ Shannara series. I would also read books related to game development. Still, I didn’t really read very much otherwise. I had online articles and forums, but didn’t spend too much time with printed materials besides Game Developer magazine and PC Gamer.

Dustin Sacks of Sillysoft wrote about keeping track of books that he was reading for the year. I thought it sounded like a good idea, and so I decided to keep track of the books I read as well.

Some people make a goal of reading one book per week. I decided to try to keep up that pace, but I didn’t want to make it a real goal. Halfway through the year, however, I started keeping track of how many weeks have passed as well as the number of books I’ll need to read to catch up.
